🎰 Dance Roulette

Partner required | Lead & follow

Before each round in this exciting category, we'll spin the wheel of fortune to determine how you'll be dancing! Every couple will dance three rounds, and each round will be a different category. Points will accumulate over all three rounds, and any illegal moves (letting go in Infinity, wrong hand in Broken Wing) will earn you 0 points for that round. You could land on any of the following categories:

In Music Mash-up, you'll be dancing to snippets of tracks from four different music genres. Show us that you can change up your style depending on the song.

In Infinity, you'll start the dance by connecting to your partner with both hands – if you let go during your dance, you'll be disqualified. Don't get tangled!

In Blind Date, either you or your partner (also drawn randomly) will wear a blindfold during your dance. You'll need to look out for your partner, and watch out for other dancers on the floor.

In Switched, you'll be swapping lead/follow roles throughout the dance with your partner. You can switch as many times as you like, the more obvious and flamboyant the better!

In Broken Wing, leads are restricted to using only one arm (also drawn randomly). You'll need to be creative with your move selection and think differently to do well.

In Floorials, you'll need to regularly touch the floor with something other than your feet throughout the dance. We want to see how you play with levels and be creative without losing the dance. And just so we're clear – lying down on the floor doing an arm jive. Funny? Yes. Floorial? No.

👪 Swaps and Steals

Two partners required | Any combo of lead/follow

Enter as a team of three, but only two of you can dance together at any one time. The spare person swaps or steals the lead or follow role from the dancing couple in a way that doesn't interrupt the flow of the dance. There might be a brief connection between all three dancers during the change, but it shouldn't last any longer than required for the transition. You may change roles when you swap or steal a dancer.

🎁 Lucky Dip

Parter not required | Lead or follow

Enter this category on your own and on the day before the competition we will randomly pair you up with another dancer who you'll dance with for the entire event. You're are more likely to be paired with somebody from another region who competes at a different level than you.
