As a teacher, my passion is helping dancers discover, nurture, and express their love for dance. With over a decade of experience teaching Modern Jive since 2011, I’ve worked with dancers at every level, guiding them to break through challenges and reach their goals. If you’re feeling stuck or unsure of how to take your dancing to the next level, I can help you identify and strengthen the foundational skills that will set you up for success.
For competitive dancers, my experience as a judge—along with my role as Head Judge of the iDance Classic—gives me unique insights into what it takes to succeed in competitions.
Not sure if private lessons are the right fit for you? I’m more than happy to chat and discuss your goals. As an adaptable teacher, I’m committed to finding the best approach tailored to your needs.
I fell in love with Modern Jive in 2019, diving into both social and competition dancing as a lead. In the past few years, I’ve also embraced following, deepening my understanding of connection and movement from both perspectives. Along the way, I’ve trained with incredible dancers across New Zealand and Australia, refining my skills through workshops and private lessons. This journey has led me to over 30 competition podium finishes, but what I value most is the joy of sharing what I’ve learned. My passion is helping others unlock their potential, refine their technique, and discover just how fun and exhilarating dance can be!
Kia ora, I'm Keita. I'm both a lead and follow in dance. I've been dancing for the better part of 10 years. I'm lucky enough to have helped loads of couples with their wedding dance, privileged enough to have been asked to help dancers improve their dancing and grow their confidence. On the dancefloor, I'm about having fun and creating space for sass and play.
Five years ago, I attended my first Modern Jive class and instantly fell in love. I love how it brings me into the moment and allows me to connect with others. I'm a Level 4 follow, and I focus on helping dancers feel comfortable and confident in their own movement.
I teach regularly at iDance and have competed both in New Zealand and internationally. I've been lucky to train with top dancers across NZ and Australia. I enjoy working with everyone—from beginners to advanced dancers. Modern Jive was my first dance style, and I truly believe anyone can grow into the dancer they want to be with the right support and effort. Whether you want to refine your technique, explore musicality, or feel more comfortable on the social floor, I’d love to help.
Kia ora, I'm Tim. I've been dancing since 2018, and I've been teaching for iDance since 2024. I'm a lead, I enjoy dancing to all kinds of weird and wonderful songs from all genres. I love fun and silly dances, I don't take myself or dancing too seriously, and I prefer basic connection and musicality to big flashy moves.
I'm happy to any kind of private lesson, including low-level competition prep or event choreography. Get in touch and we can talk about what will work best for you.
